BSAF 2020/COVID-19 Update: Boston Turkish taken out by MFA Closure

UPDATED 7:45 PM

From the Boston Turkish website:

We regret to inform you that the 19th Annual Boston Turkish Film and Music Festival scheduled for Thursday, March 19th through April 25, 2020 has been cancelled in response to growing concerns related to the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

We fully understand that this is disappointing news and we’ll do our best to re-schedule the festival films to fall 2020.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Boston Turkish Film Festival, which is held every year at the Museum of Fine Arts, is likely a casualty of the decision to close the Museum of Fine Arts for up to 30 days; we’ll try to get more on BTFF’s fate in the coming hours. For now, here’s the statement from the MFA:

Dear MFA Community,

Earlier today you received a message announcing the MFA’s intent to remain open while we closely monitor the COVID-19 outbreak in the US. Due to the rapidly changing situation, the Museum has now decided to close tonight, March 12, at 6 pm and remain closed for up to 30 days. During this time, all Museum events are cancelled or postponed. This decision was made in consultation with other Boston-area museums and sister institutions across the US as a response to ensure the health and safety of our staff and volunteers, visitors, and community.

Given the evolving nature of the outbreak, we will carefully reassess the situation in the coming weeks and share updates as they become available. Please continue to check our website for new information. We appreciate your support and look forward to reopening when it is safe for the public, staff, and volunteers.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
