Remember….

Sometimes with light comes darkness…

18 years ago this morning, there was a clear blue sky when the world as a whole turned upside down…and those of us who lived through that day will never forget what it was like…

We had a couple of stakes in it, one personal, and one TV personal – Kim’s mother was working in Washington that day, on loan to the FDIC headquarters from the office in Boston; she watched the Pentagon attack unfold from her hotel room.

And a young firefighter named Angel Jurabe, who had just a week earlier been declared the winner of Fox Television’s murder mystery reality game show “Murder In Small Town X” and which we watched every week, was among dozens of brave FDNY first responders who gave their lives that day – he was in the Marriott Hotel in the WTC complex when Tower 2 came crashing down right on top of it, virtually destroying the building and killing all of the firefighters still inside as they attempted to rescue two of their own men after safely evacuating all the guests and workers.

And just as light can turn into darkness…the dark can be penetrated by a powerful light…

On last night’s edition of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent“, an incredible light artist named Alex Dowis, who was likely going to be on the bubble at best when the results show came on tonight, did something incredible – this young man from the Czech Republic, who likely wasn’t affected by what happened on that fateful day himself, produced an amazing tribute to those brave men and women who face danger each and every day, so many of whom were among New York’s finest to give their lives that day. His performance was subtle, and utterly brilliant…and ulitmately gutwrenchingly beautiful… I have a feeling he may have made it into next week’s finals thanks to this performance, and rightfully so, because it’s a tribute so beautiful, it has to be seen and experienced to be believed – please open it up in full screen so you get the full effect, and please like it, share it, and please Tweet and Facebook it as well…the world needs to see what the viewers saw last night…

When you’re finished watching, sit back and remember…and if there are those too young to remember what happened, and who may have been born after it…make sure that they – and the WORLD – never forgets the most horrific terrorist attack in history…please take the time to tune into the History channel this evening at 7 PM ET (check local listings for time in your area) for “102 Minutes That Changed America“…this Emmy-winning documentary is something everyone should see…and something you will never forget…
