FETHIVAL FLASH: Roxbury Int’l Film Festival, Day Nine

Welcome to eCinemaBoston’s daily coverage of the 2019 Roxbury International Film Festival!  The RIFF officially runs from June 20-29, and will be screening films at a variety of locations throughout the Hub, you can check each day’s listings for films, locations, and ticket info.

Day nine is here – just one more day after today!

Things kick off today with a double bill of longer shorts – first the documentary This Little Light, tells the story of Wendi Moore-O’Neal, a Black Feminist freedom singer from New Orleans, Louisiana, who was fired from her community organizing job after marrying her wife, Mandisa. Then, the documentary In Love WIth You, which follows the hopes and dreams of  women of color from all over. The screening takes place at 3:00 PM at the Harold And Mildred Remis Auditorium, tickets are available here. The screening is co-sponsored by Wicked Queer Boston LGBTQ Film Festival.

Next up is the fourth shorts film program, titled Where Is The Love?, a series of seven shorts exploring relationships of all types. The films screens at 5:30 PM at the Harold And Mildred Remis Auditorium, tickets are available here.

Finally, the evening will conclude with the screening of the critically loved sports drama Sprinter, the story of a Rastafarian teenager in Philadelphia hopes to qualify for the national youth track team for the World Youth Championships. The feature will be preceded by the short Behind Greatness. The screening starts at 7:30 PM at the Harold And Mildred Remis Auditorium, tickets are available here.

Tonight’s free admission post-film hangout is at Dona Habina, at 811 Mass Ave., and gets underway from 9:30 PM to 12 AM.
