The Boston Turkish Film Festival heads into the final weekend of films of its 18th annual fest today. BTFF is a component of the overall Boston Turkish Festival, which also has a great line up of music performances to enjoy.
Today’s offerings begin at 5:30 PM with an encore of the North American premiere The Pigeon, from director Banu Sıvacı. Here’s the official write up from the festival website:
Yusuf is a young man living with his sister and brother in one of Adana’s suburbs. On the rooftop of the building where they live, he passionately feeds and breeds the pigeons he inherited from his father. He is especially attached to a female pigeon named Maverdi. His brother forces him to work and to earn money. Yusuf, who doesn’t know any other world than the one with his pigeons on the roof, will face the life or labor and the harsh realities of his neighborhood.
The second screening today is at 7:30 PM, an encore screening of the drama Butterflies, from director Tolga Karaçelik:
In a Turkish village, three siblings who neither know each other nor anything about their late father, wait to bury his body. As they start to find out more about their father and each other, they also start to learn more about themselves.
