IT’S HERE! IT’S HERE! Boston Springs A Fethival 2019 is officially underway, and we’ll have info for all the various festivals and their schedules every day, so be sure to keep your browser turned to eCinemaBoston.com for all the latest info!
ReelAbilities Boston showcases those with disabilities and the way people overcome them. It’s a unique film festival concept that has been happening in New York since 2007, and beginning with Cincinnati in 2012, has now spread to a national network of local festivals.
Day four’s selection is the uplifting music-based film Mind Over Matter; here’s the official synopsis from the ReelAbilities Boston website:
A young man with cerebral palsy overcomes a paralyzed left hand, bullies, and stereotypes, dreaming of becoming a rock guitarist even while told he will never succeed. His dreams become reality as he leads his own band, inspired by the band Korn to express himself through music.
A discussion with director Sebastien Paquet and film subject Brandon Mendenhall will follow the screening. The film is co-presented with United Cerebral Palsy of MetroBoston (UCP), Boston University Arts Initiative, Boston University Disability Services, and Berklee College of Music.
Tonight’s screening takes place at Boston University – Sargent College, 1st Floor, Room 101 at 4:30 PM. Admission is free, but you must register, which you can do here.
ReelAbilities Boston is an excellent way to celebrate life in all its glory – films presented by this festival are usually uplifting and truly magical, so know if you’re headed for a film here, you’re going to come out thinking a LOT about what you’ve seen, and also probably with a smile on your face…
