ReelAbilities Boston, the metro area’s extension of the national ReelAbilities Film Festival, continues today and throughout this week at various venues in and around (and even slightly outside) the Hub.
Co-presented up our way by the Boston Jewish Film Festival, RAB showcases films that highlight people with and are made by people with disabilites. The lineup of films are generally films you may have heard about before, but may not have seen yet, and now you have the chance to do so.
We are at day 7 – the final day of the 2017 festival – and a huge film to close with, one that will touch anyone who lives in not just in Metro Boston, but the entire country, and possibly the entire world, as well
Marathon: The Patriots’ Day Bombing uses never-before-seen footage to tell the story of those who were physically affected by the 2013 bombing. Lives were changed that day for many but none more so than those of a newlywed couple, a mother and daughter, and two brothers who now face challenges life dropped on them in an instant.
Directed by Annie Sundberg and Ricki Stern, this film is going to be packed with powerful emotion, so be ready with plenty of tissues when they hit you… Two of the films subjects, Patrick Downes and Jessica Kensky, will be on hand for a discussion after the film, hosted by The Boston Globe’s Eric Moskowitz. The film is co=presented by GlobeDocs and the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network
The film screens tonight at 7 PM at the historic Somerville Theatre. Tickets are $10 and are available here – use the code GLOBEDOCS1 to save $5 on the ticket price.
