BOSTON SPRINGS A FETHIVAL 2017: Salem Film Fest launches TONIGHT!

After an early bump from Boston SciFi in February, the annual Boston Springs A Fethival season officially gets underway today with the launch of the tenth anniversary year for the Salem Film Fest, SFF is simply one of the best festivals you could EVER find anywhere – eight days of incredible documentaries from filmmakers all over the world.

They’re doing things a slight bit differently this year; instead of an opening night film, SFF is holding their annual fundraiser to open this year’s fest. Held at the splendid Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, this year’s gala has plenty in store for you. The fest will be honoring Frontline founder and executive producer at-large David Fanning; Frontline is a longtime sponsor of the fest. Local dignitaries, including Salem’s mayor and statehouse representatives, will also be on hand, as well representatives from SFF’s primary sponsors Peabody Essex Museum, CinemaSalem, and lead media sponsor WBUR.

The gala begins at 7:30 PM, and tickets for this very special event are $75, and includes lots of hors d’ouvres and a cash bar, as well as live music from Nephroid AllStars. As the fest’s official website puts it, dress is “Creative Black – From Tees to Tuxes!”

Tomorrow, the fest launches with a full day of programming – in the past Friday has been evening only – and there are TONS of great docs on display for everyone to choose from. We’ll have a run down of all the films and the complete schedule for you tomorrow morning.

Be sure to check out the official Salem Film Fest website for more on the entire fest, and keep tuned in to eCB every day during the SFF for daily schedules, profiles and more!
