IFFB DAILY TRAILER: “Me And Earl And The Dying Girl”

2015home-hero1THIS is the film that has been getting the most critical praise of all the January festival films – Jury AND Audience Award winner @ Sundance. The film stars 2011 PNR Rising Star Honors alum Thomas Mann as Greg, a high school senior who along with best friend Earl (newcomer RJ Cyler) spend their time making goofy parodies of movies. That is, until Greg’s mom forces him to begin spending time with a classmate, a girl who’s been diagnosed with leukemia. The trailer shows that this is NOT “The Fault In Our Stars” but is closer in tone to “[500] Days Of Summer”. Mann is already getting Oscar buzz for his role, and I can’t wait because I think this film, after a string of well received smaller roles (and the lead in the Nickelodeon Films cult hit Fun Size), is going to catapult his career into the stratosphere when it hits theaters on June 12. “Me and Earl” is the Closing Night film for the 13th annual Independent Film Festival Boston, and will screen TONIGHT at 7:30 PM at the Coolidge  Corner Theatre in Brookline; we will be there for SURE! Hope to see you there! Enjoy!
