Rejoice Metro Boston film fans! We now have 12 more screens to enjoy!
The AMC Assembly Row 12 in the new Assembly Row development in Somerville opens for business tonight.
One of only a handful of new theaters built by AMC in the past two years, this new complex offers up a place to have a drink and relax in the 21+ McGuffins Bar; The Marketplace, a new store-like concept in concession stands featuring a much larger line of snacks and drinks for your theatergoing pleasure, including the new Coca-Cola Freestyle system that can mix and match nearly 100 flavors of soda; and the Boston area’s newest “Faux-Max” IMAX theatre screen (those of you who have followed our site over the years understand that term – although they are called “IMAX” they are NOT true IMAX (available locally only at Jordan’s Natick and Reading and Simons IMAX at NEAQ) but ARE very much worth the money, especially in 3D). AMC Stubs members will get double points for all purchases at the new theatre through May 31.
Located at 395 Artisan Way in Somerville, it is the first major business to open in the new Assembly Square development, with many more to come in the next few weeks.
We will be checking the theater out in the near future, although not likely before the new Assembly Hill stop on the Orange Line is completed this summer. If you visit the new theatre, shoot us an email and let us know what it’s like!
