The 2013 edition of the Salem Film Fest gets underway today and runs through Thursday, March 14th. The fest has earned it’s reputation for being one of the top documentary festivals in the northeast over the past decade, and this year is no exception.
The fest will kick off with the sold-out northeast premiere of THE GHOST ARMY, which details a top-secret WWII unit that used inflatable tanks, sound trucks and other clever tactics to impersonate U.S. Army units and deceive Hitler’s legions. Lexington-based filmmaker Rick Beyer will be on hand for a Q&A after the film.
THE GHOST ARMY screens tonight at 7 PM at Salem’s Peabody Essex Museum. Most screenings will be held at CinemaSalem, with a handful of films happening at the museum.
Watch PNRBoston.com throughout the next week for features and daily schedules for the Fest, and also for complete on-site coverage of the fest; Subject:CINEMA hosts TC Kirkham and Kim Brown will be on the ground at the Salem Film Fest this weekend for in-person coverage for the first time, and the Fest will be featured for the first time in the film podcasts’ annual BOSTON SPRINGS A FETHIVAL show in late April.
